Synchronized swimming is a female sport which requires great aquatic habilities, physical resistance, flexibility, agility, creativity and accuracy. This sport combines dancing, swimming and gymnastics.
It's divided in two parts: technique and freestyle. Judges value the performance taking into account technical (35%) and artistic quality (65%), being able to give a maximum of ten points in total. Swimmers can lose points if they hold to the border or if they touch the ground of the pool.
Rutines. Swimmers perform in solitary combining different movements and transitions.
Duets. Swimmers perform in pairs. They require a perfect synchronisation with music and the other partner.
Groups. Between 4 and 8 contestants. It demands a lot of effort to synchronise large groups. It allows the contestants to build more complex figures.
